Greenwich DRI/New York Forward Application

The Town and Village of Greenwich are applying for up to $10 million (DRI) or up to $4.5 million (New York Forward) in funding through the Governor’s 2024 NY Forward Program or Downtown Revitalization Initiative Program. Either program will be a comprehensive approach to boost Greenwich’s economy and further ongoing revitalization efforts.

A key component of both the DRI and NY Forward program is to fund shovel-ready, transformational projects that have the potential to create an immediate, positive effect on a community’s downtown.

The DRI and NY Forward programs both aim to invigorate and enliven downtowns in New York’s communities. DRI is designed to accelerate and expand downtown revitalization. NY Forward builds on the success of DRI and adopts the same “Plan-then-Act” strategy. NY Forward also focuses on smaller and rural communities—the type of downtowns found in villages, hamlets and other small, neighborhood-scale municipal centers.

As we grow our downtowns, we are proud to launch a new program — NY Forward — that will provide crucial support to New York’s smaller and rural communities to help bring them back to the bustling towns and villages they once were.
— NY Governor Kathy Hochul

To this end, the Greenwich has released a Request for Projects to identify potential projects to include in the DRI/NY Forward application that can provide economic and community development benefits. If awarded funding, additional opportunities will be provided to submit projects and all projects would be vetted by the DRI/NY Forward Local Planning Committee (LPC) at meetings open to the public.
